Kurzbeschreibung

Situation, responsibility and political positioning.

Project description

People never act in a vacuum; they always already find themselves in situations that shape perception, judgement and possibilities for action. The project focuses on the bodily, social and historical conditions of such situations. Situatedness is neither a fixed fate nor an unchangeable standpoint, but a historical a priori in relation to which political subjects can take a stance. They are not responsible for their situation, but they are responsible within it: they can adopt a stance and position themselves while also being positioned by others. Drawing on Bodenlos situiert, the project develops a political phenomenology between conditionedness and freedom. It asks how the capacity for judgement, responsibility and action in solidarity become possible without reducing situatedness to identity or a privileged standpoint.
